Dusckas Martin Funeral Home
After a twenty-year career in education, John (Jack) E. Martin entered the funeral business. This was not new to Jack, since he worked on a part-time basis, while he was teaching public education in the Millcreek Township School District, for Gus Dusckas (founder and owner of Dusckas Funeral Home).
When Jack decided to enter the mortuary field, he discussed with Nancy Dusckas, the current owner of Dusckas Funeral Home, the possibility of opening a west Erie/Millcreek Twp. facility to benefit Dusckas Families on the west side. They began searching for a suitable location and when the facility at 4216 Sterrettania Road became available, they purchased the building and grounds. Today sits the newest and most innovative three parlored facility in Erie County.
The funeral home includes a Kids' Room for children to play, create and watch videos. The Caring Center is a separate entity located in the funeral home where friends and family can purchase sympathy cards, books dealing with grief and death, silk flower arrangements and other mementos.
The same service and commitment to the Dusckas Families will continue at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral home.
Recent families have compared the Dusckas-Martin service as more of a ministry as compared to business. "They really handle all affairs and put the family at ease. Their explanations of funeral pre-arranging makes the process so easy. We recommend this group to all families."
