Edward J. Garr Obituaries

Joyce Dobrowolski

“Most Favorite Aunt” On Good Friday, our beautiful sister, Joyce, went home peacefully to be with the Lord and Mama and Daddy, our sister, Sandy Farrell and our infant niece, Rebecca Farrell, after waging a valiant battle at McGee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh that started with pneumonia in January.

Joyce was born December 11, 1954, the youngest child of John and Josephine (Skonieczka) Dobrowolski. She is the beloved sister of her twin, John (John D.) Dobrowolski, and her sisters, Barbara Miller and Patricia Popovich all of Erie. Joyce is the favorite aunt of her twelve nieces and nephews, Jim, Mindy, Jill, Lisa, Kirsten, Gary, Erin, Christopher, Jennifer, Julie, Desiree, and Anthony. She is further survived by 17 ( and two on the way) great nieces and nephews and her favorite aunt and best friend, Dorothy Churchill. She loved her three kitties, Josey, Sophie, and Shadow, whom she affectionately called “her kids” and her first cat, Cinder, and dogs, Brute and Shady, who are in animal heaven. Joyce attended St. Stanislaus School and is a graduate of East High School.

She had worked as a Kelly Girl and a GenTel. She loved children, animals, Justin Timberlake, talking on the phone, buying from catalogs, baking Polish sweet bread, keeping tabs on Hollywood stars and being the news reporter for our family. If you wanted to keep a secret, you didn’t tell Joyce. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting afghans. Joyce helped raise all of our children, and was Anthony and Desiree’s daily babysitter from birth through their teen years. She was their “second” Mom. We all thank God for the gift of Joyce. She added a richness to our lives with her keen sense of humor, her generosity, and her unconditional and expansive love of all of us, her family. Joyce’s life is a testament that a person without wealth can leave a monumental legacy of hope, love, laughter, and perseverance. “In all circumstances, give thanks to God”.
